Eight years after Kasie Moore ran away from Chayton Amory just
before their wedding, Amory kidnaps Kasie on the eve of her
marriage to Rick Springer.
Heart of the Wild is set in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon, where
Kasie Moore must contend with her former fiance, a blizzard, a
marauding bear, and the domination of her parents. Add to this the
fact there is no indoor plumbing! Reading the story, I felt I was right
there in the cabin in the woods with Kasie.
Rita Hestand has created two sympathetic characters who must
learn a great deal about themselves and each other. I liked the fact
that Ms. Hestand portrayed Chayton Amory, a logging engineer, as
truly caring for the forest, shattering a popular misconception.
Fighting their own feelings and past hurts, Kasie and Chayton finally
bring their story to a very satisfactory conclusion.

When Kasie Douglas decides to marry rock star Rick Springer, her
estranged father, John, decides he must act. He asks his good friend
Chayton to bring Kasie home so he can talk some sense into her,
hence, stopping the wedding.
Was it her father's intention to get Chayton and Kasie back together
and rekindle their old flame? Kasie swore she had buried her feelings
for Chayton years ago but soon found she was getting that breathless
feeling again just being around him! Why had she never felt that way
about Rick?
Chayton's heart broke eight years ago when Kasie walked out on him saying her father
forced him to propose. Why hadn't he just told her he loved her back then? He had lost her
once, he wasn't going to lose her again...even if it meant having to carry her off again!
Book one you'll tingle all over. Book two you'll fall in love all over again. Book three... you'll be
hooked for life! Now, when do I get the next one?!

Review:
This Rita Hestand ebook is yet another one of her
exciting adventures into the
world of heart-throbbing romances.
"You're the only one I could ask. The only one I
would ask such a thing of."
The story begins with rugged Chayton Amory
kidnapping the heroine, Kasie
Douglas, on the day before her wedding... to
another man. Her scheming
father, Chayton's brother Tanka, the beautiful
Cascade Mountains, a cabin in
the wild, a bear, and a blizzard, all enhance the
captivating plot.
To make matters more interesting, the hero and the
heroine hate each other.
They had a love affair eight years ago, but she
wants no part of the man who
broke her heart, and he's done with her...
"I still can't keep my hands off you. We wouldn't
even be having this
conversation now if...."
Or is he?

Staring at the ocean, in deep thought, Kasie Moore doesn't see
the man sneaking up behind her. The next thing she knows her
head is covered, and she's hoisted onto a man's shoulders and
carried away. Who is the man kidnapping her the day before her
wedding to Rick and why does he seem familiar to her? Once
inside a jeep, the hood is removed and Kasie looks into a face
from the past...Chayton Amory. It seems Kasie's father wants to
talk to her before the wedding and sent Chayton to insure that
happens.
Chayton has loved Kasie for years, and is still reeling from her
betrayal years before. They were to be married and then one day
Kasie left without so much as a good-bye, much less an
explanation. Bitter and angry, Chayton can't believe he let John
talk him into kidnapping Kasie. Sitting next to him, mad enough
to spit nails, Chay feels the desire welling up inside him like it
always has around Kasie. Chay doesn't feel worthy of Kasie;
because of his Indian heritage. But now Chay wants to prove to
Kasie that he's the man for her, not the joker she's planning to
marry. A bad snowstorm, and no father in sight, Kasie and Chay
find themselves secluded in a cabin alone.
HEART OF THE WILD is a passionate romance filled with
wonderful characters and lots of chemistry. Chay and Kasie still
have feelings for one another, that they try to deny. The scenery
in the snow covered mountains is beautifully described by Ms.
Hestand, giving the reader the sense of being there.
Ms. Hestand writes a beautiful romance that will touch your
heart. I fell in love with Chay and his strong, silent type. Kasie is
a woman after my own heart; strong, brave, and not afraid to
fight for what she wants. What she wants is Chay. I thoroughly
enjoyed HEART OF THE WILD, and highly recommend it to all
romance readers.

Nothing more than a kidnapping would start Kasie Moore's life heading toward wedded bliss to be
more than perfect. Except Kasie wasn't sure about her upcoming nuptials. She wasn't sure about
anything these days but Kasie knew she wanted the security she didn't have as a child. But she
craved the tingles only one man could give. She needed love but all she'd receive would be
loneliness. Still anything was better than the man she left in an arranged marriage eight years ago.
Right?
Chayton Amory agreed to do one last favor for John Douglas. Even though he wasn't thrilled with
the idea, Chay owed John his very life. But he still had a hard time convincing himself it was kosher
to retrieve Kasie without her knowledge just days before her wedding. However, duty called so
Chayton drives to California, retrieves Kasie and proceeds back to his cabin. Of course everything
would have went much smoother if a blizzard hadn't waylaid her father's arrival.
Eight years apart can be a lifetime of changes. As Chayton and Kasie wait out the storm, their love
comes swiftly back with an air of maturity. The sticky fact remains that Kasie is still officially engaged
but totally in love with another man. Yet that's the least of their worries. The blizzard has already
stranded them at the cabin. Then Chayton's brother arrives, a bear decides to make a grand
entrance, and a plane crashes nearby. What more could happen? Why a wedding, of course!
In the HEART OF THE WILD is a tender-hearted story reminiscent of Hestand's prior releases.
Enjoy the ride through the storm as Hestand brings two wayward hearts back home where they
belong.

Chayton Amory is gonna kidnap Kasie Douglas the day
before
her wedding at the request of her father and his
friend,
John Douglas III. Chay has no desire to be around
Kasie,
but sees no other way to help his friend. John only
wants
some time to talk to his estranged daugther and to
postpone
her wedding til he's sure she loves this man, Rick
Springer.
Kasie wants nothing to do with Chayton, but seeing
no way to
escape, she goes alone to his cabin. Kasie has
loved Chayton
for years and is afraid of falling in love with him
again only
to be hurt again. They both are trying to fight
what they feel
and the only way they see to deal with their
feelings is to
fight. With a blizzard coming, Chayton's brother
Tanka, and an
old Bear to deal with, they have no choice but to
help each
other and wait for the weather to clear so her
father can come.
Can they overcome the past and trust each other and
their hearts?
"Heart of The Wild" is a wonderful and touching
love story of
growing up and learning to trust your heart. Ms.
Hestand's story
is a true pageturner that I hated to see end, with
great
secondary characters that will draw you in and not
let go. I
would recommend this story to anyone who wants a
wonderful story
with a lot of great characters.
